Projex Hit the Toon for Night of Comedy – November 2010
The Peter Kay Tour That Doesn’t Tour (now on tour) was the setting for an evening of comedy and shenanigans for Projex and a number of clients in Newcastle. Following an excellent feed and a few warm-up beers the group of 20 headed to the Metro Arena to see Mr Kay’s first solo stand up tour in seven years.
80’s singing sensation Rick Astley (that’s what the website says!) opened the evening, but we’ll have to take their word for that as an extended stay in the pub meant a rather hasty last minute arrival just as the big man (and he is even bigger now!) arrived on stage and he didn’t disappoint. Though he’s hardly been absent the past seven years – what with his chart-topping singles (Comic Relief, Geraldine) and all of the books – the interval of time has allowed him to gather up wide-eyed reflections on the technological changes that have taken place.
The marvels of Sky Plus, texting, “t’internet”, Blu-ray and all the other paraphernalia we now can’t live without were subject to his sweaty-faced scrutiny. He complained that he has now bought Star Wars in three formats: “If the picture gets any clearer, I’m going to end up on the couch with Yoda, having a brew.”
The night was finished off in a typical fashion around the Toon and the group certainly made their mark with a number of questionable dance moves on display……
